Catching up on my reader yesterday I stumbled across this mesmerising picture of the vintage typewriter and completely fell in love with the colour interaction. Soft, sweet and with an air of 1950′s retro, this quietly vintage board and reminds me of the song ‘Lollipop’ by the Chordettes and would be perfect for a girly bride who has a sweet tooth.
Texture is really important within this board and I’d love to see a bride with an ostrich feather gown, lots of satin ribbon and countless tuelle pompoms dotted around the venue.
Happy Wednesday!

A few of weeks ago in a moment of inspiration block, I saw this gorgeous wedding over on Once Wed and was reinspired by the mouthwatering combination of zingy yellow and cool aquamarine. I’m convinced that yellow is going to be a hot wedding trend over the next year or so as it seems that everywhere I look right now couples are using it to great effect in their colour palettes.
I see this board being for a cool, modern couple who want a quirky, fun wedding in an urban space. I’m imagining structural floral arrangements, bespoke cocktails, a cage veil, smokin’ lipstick and a phenomenal live band who keep guests on their feet until the wee hours.

We’re kicking this week off with this light, bright and breezy design board. The inspiration for this board came from these beautiful invitations by Hello!Lucky which are appropriately called Meadow and which we’re using for a wedding later this year. I love, love, love the Meadow design because it’s manages to be modern and chic yet still perfect for a classical country wedding. In the same way, the colour palette for this board focuses on crisp whites, grass greens and a splash of delphinium blue; a fresh and simple approach to the English marquee wedding.

There’s something about the brave combination of these two colours that brings me great joy. Something to do with how the ice blue cools the heat of that cherry red creating a kitsch, retro look.
From my excursions around the web, it seems like this palette is much more popular over in the States and I have to admit that there is something about this concept that makes me want to go and eat an ice cream sundae in a 1950s diner and pretend I’m a character in Happy Days!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you enjoyed the holidays and got to eat your fair share of chocolate. We’re starting this week off with this preppy, slightly nautical board which centers around a palette of navy, pale blue and ivory. Light and airy with an touch of traditional ‘England’, this board is perfect for a garden-style celebration and makes me look forward to those hazy summer days where dipping your toes into a nearby river doesn’t give you hyperthermia!

More than ever, I’m finding myself influenced by the weather. I’m desperate for Spring but also loving the remaining clear, crisp days of Winter. So when the heavens opened and unexpectedly deposited half of Antarctica over London, I knew it was time for a board that reflected the delicate, ethereal quality of these last few Winter weeks.

This board is all about understated elegance. I love its timeless grace and the way the ivory and Wedgwood blue are brought to life by the slightest addition of gold.
Tea in beautiful cups, opulent macaroons, the stunning Blenhiem Palace, blossom centrepieces and blousy rose bouquets. All perfect for a beautiful, dream-like, post-winter, pre-spring wedding day!

If you do one thing today it must, must, must be heading over to Once Wed to read all about Amber and Jeff’s stunning wedding. I cannot believe how gorgeous this wedding is and how the couple did so many amazing craft projects themselves. I am especially head-over-heels for their website, save the date packs and escort cards. Also if you needed any more convincing that a photo booth is absolutely the way to go check their shots out – hilarious.

One thing I love about the blogging community is that I’m constantly kept up to date with the most original, daring and edgy suppliers/ideas/weddings out there. Today, the super talented Teardrop Weddings featured a stunning wedding shot by photographer extraordinaire Lisa Lefkowitz. The couple’s colour scheme was an edgy red and aqua, a palette I’ve never seen before and which at first thought I’d think would clash but then:

What a happy bride! A what a fantastic, unusual colour scheme.
Be sure to stop by Holly’s and Lisa’s sites for some beautiful (and unique) stationery along with some serious wedding eye candy.

Just back home after a lovely few days in Norfolk. On Friday we took a trip to the beautiful Norfolk coast where we visited the most stunning, unspoilt beach I have ever seen. The water was crystal clear, the sand super clean and the sky the most intense shade of blue. Wedding planning never far from my mind, this beautiful place of course inspired a design concept!
With this concept I was keen to things subtle and resist going over board with all things seaside! Hopefully this board has a good balance of reflecting the surroundings but not feeling too gimmicky.
Central to this concept is the use of light and cleverly bringing the outside in. I’m imagining lots of clear glass, fairy lights, sand filled hurricane vases and tea lights in jam jars. I’ve always loved the idea of a bonfire on the beach and I think this would be beautiful for a wedding. A barbeque of rustic seafood with toasted marshmallows for a midnight snack. Sky lanterns and sparklers just before the bride and groom steal away together. Oh how lovely!
