Just because Christmas is over shouldn’t mean an end to all the celebrations. January and February are fantastic months for weddings and a winter wedding is the perfect antidote to the January blues. I adore winter weddings and I don’t think we make nearly enough of them in the UK. Not only do you escape the worry of whether the weather will hold but most venues reduce their fees over the winter, giving you the opportunity to make your budget go that much further.

This concept about celebrating winter in all it’s beauty. The potentially cold palette of teal and sage is offset by sparkling diamantes and accents of silver, creating a cosy but fresh, modern feel. For flowers I’d use lots of herbs and silvery grey eucalyptus whilst for favours I’d choose potted succulents decorated with pretty silver ribbon. For the menu I’d choose roasted lamb and root vegetables with hot chocolate fondant for dessert and in the evening I’d cover every surface, nook and cranny with lightly scented tea lights. For entertainment I’d chose a live band or even a ceilidh and as guests were leaving I’d distribute goodbye gifts of hand made nougat and Scotch whisky. Ooo it makes me want to go and put on a party dress!

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there will be no loneliness,
for each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons,
but there is only one life before you.
May beauty surround you both in the
journey ahead and through all the years,
May happiness be your companion and
your days together be good and long upon the earth.
Treat yourselves and each other with respect, and
remind yourselves often of what brought you together.
Give the highest priority to the tenderness,
gentleness and kindness that your connection deserves.
When frustration, difficulties and fear assail your relationship,
as they threaten all relationships at one time or another,
remember to focus on what is right between you,
not only the part which seems wrong.
In this way, you can ride out the storms when
clouds hide the face of the sun in your lives – remembering that
even if you lose sight of it for a moment, the sun is still there.
And if each of you takes responsibility for the quality of your
life together, it will be marked by abundance and delight.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and got the chance to welcome in the new year in style! If you’re headed back into the office today, I hope you’re feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed and manage to escape the January blues unscathed.
We spent a very lovely Christmas catching up with family and friends and are now eager to get stuck into all the exciting things we’ve got planned for 2009. Here on the blog we’re looking forward to sharing more of our recent work, design concepts and wedding planning tricks.
Today I leave you with a quick snap of some of my Christmas handiwork which will feature in a winter wedding design concept later this week. Join us later this week to see the results.
